Blue Circle wurde 1990 vom Gitarristen und Komponisten Uli Graner in Boston (USA) während seines Studiums am Berklee College of Music gegründet. Wieder in München machte Graner hauptsächlich durch die musikalische Leitung bei Produktionen wie „The Wall- die Rockoper“ im Circus Krone und „The Wall 1999“ in der Reithalle auf sich aufmerksam.

Seit 1993 ist Uli Graner Mitglied der bekannten Klezmer-Jazz Band NUNU! (Enja Records) bei der nach 2006 auch Matilda Leko als Sängerin mitwirkt. Die beiden Musiker Graner und Leko haben schnell ihre gemeinsame Liebe zu einer Musik entdeckt, die weit über das Genre Klezmer hinausgeht und keine Grenzen kennt.

verwirklichen sie sich einen Traum.

Eine Formation deren weites Spektrum von Ethno, Folk über Jazz bis hin zu Fusion und Pop Farben alles aufblitzen lässt und verarbeitet. Im Zentrum stehen dabei neben Balkan Folklore Standards natürlich die Kompositionen von Graner und Leko. Aber auch einige von NUNU! bekannten Stücken und deren Bearbeitungen erklingen in neuen Farben.

2017 nahm die Band am XX. Internationalen Jazzfestival in Saulkrasti(LV) teil und plant im Jahr 2018 auf diversen Festivals und in Klubs europaweit aufzutreten.

The band was founded by Guitarist and Composer Uli Graner in 1990 in Boston(USA).

After returning to Munich Graner received some attention for his direction of the Rockopera „The Wall“ and „The Wall 1999“. Further projects include Klezmer-Jazz Band NUNU! (Enja Records), studio work, composing for TV and Movies for example the german TV Crime series „Der Fahnder“

The Blue Circle has appeared over the years at numerous renowned Festivals such as Regensburger Jazztage, Moers Jazzfest and in 2014 at the Saulkrasti Jazzfestival. 

In summer 2017 the band will be releasing their new CD.

The Jazzfusion Quintet is performing this year for the first time with the Serbian Singer Matilda Leko.  Uli Graner came into contact with Matilda while working together in the Klezmer band NUNU. With the project Blue Circle they combine Jazzfusion with elements of ethnic and traditional Balkan music.

Their programs consists their own compositions as well as arrangements of Leko´s native music.

The band had the pleasure of performing at the XX. International Jazz festival in Saulkrasti and will be performing at diverse clubs and festivals throughout Europe in 2018.
